Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi attacked Smith over the meeting, claiming Shapiro is “far-right” and an “extremist.”

Smith is also pushing back against the federal government’s costly electricity regulations, with provincial ministers warning they won’t comply and will take Ottawa to court.
