Despite promising — and apparently delivering — a reduction in immigration, it’s now been revealed that the reductions seen were greatly exaggerated.
On Wednesday, Statistics Canada published new population estimates, revising previous immigration figures from those first reported.
For instance, in the third quarter of 2025, StatsCan originally said Canada’s population dropped by ~76,000, but the new figure says Canada actually grew by at least 115,000. Keep reading.

Canada’s national statistics agency released its population estimates in its annual September release on Wednesday. The revised numbers show a massive discrepancy between what Statistics Canada originally reported about several past fiscal quarters and what it now reports.
Carney also recently chose to make his wife, Diana Fox Carney, Canada’s Ocean Envoy, later promising $82 million over five years to bolster ocean monitoring.
Fox Carney made her first appearance as Ocean Envoy alongside her husband this week at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
She has previously bragged that being the wife of the prime minister gives her “special access” to people and opportunities that she would otherwise not have. Keep reading.

Carney’s wife lands Ocean Envoy role, admits PM gives her ‘special access’
Prime Minister Mark Carney’s wife has been named Canada’s Ocean Envoy just days after publicly acknowledging that her husband’s position gives her access to people, conversations and opportunities unavailable to others.
Besides the $82 million for ocean monitoring, it was revealed this week that Ottawa shelled out $5.8 billion in foreign aid in 2025.
This includes $217 million in foreign aid to Palestine, nearly twice that given to Ukraine (excluding $25.5 billion in multifaceted assistance to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in 2022).
Other countries that received close to or exceeding $100 million in foreign aid last year include Ethiopia, Haiti, Mali, Bangladesh, and South Sudan, which received only $88.6 million. Keep reading.
