A 24-year-old Quebec City resident has been arrested and charged by the RCMP after allegedly being in contact with ISIS terrorists and having planned to manufacture a poison or chemical weapon he was “ready” to deploy on Canadian citizens.
The RCMP’s Eastern Region announced Louay Angoud’s arrest on Thursday and charged him with several terrorism-related offences, including using or possessing property for terrorist purposes, commission of an offence for a terrorist group, participation in the activity of a terrorist group and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.
“According to the investigation conducted by the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, he intended to carry out at least one attack on behalf of the Islamic State,” the RCMP news release said.
“In particular, he is alleged to have communicated online with members of a terrorist group and gathered information to build a chemical weapon that could be used to poison Canadian citizens.”
The RCMP stated that “countering radicalization to violence” is a “top priority” for the Government of Canada, linking the incident to “religiously motivated violent extremism.”
“Collaboration and information sharing are key to helping law enforcement and their partners, such as the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, in their identification and disruption efforts,” the release said.
Police urge citizens to “remain vigilant” and report any information on terrorism or related suspicious activity to the National Security Information Network at (1-800-420-5805) or local police departments.
Honest Reporting Canada, a media watchdog concerned with rising antisemitism and biased reporting, called on Canadians to “wake up” and to “recognize the extremism that has taken over” Canada.
Casey Babb, a senior fellow and national security expert at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, called the incident part of a wider “terrorism whack-a-mole” problem in Canada.
But again, the feds will never say that this guy is clearly an Islamist terrorist. It's not convenient to mention that a large number of Middle Eastern and African importees to our country have brought radical and violent ideologies with them.
OK. Where's he from and how quick can we get him back there, even if we have to denaturalize? If he's actually from here then should never see freedom again.
