Canadians aren’t the only ones who have noticed First Nations groups’ land grabs across the country. China, which, as of late, has been increasing its efforts to exert influence, has sent diplomats to Canada to court First Nations peoples.
On September 3, Chinese Ambassador Wang Di hosted an economic roundtable in Vancouver with nearly 60 representatives from Chinese and Canadian companies and institutions. The meeting focused on China–Canada trade, the green transition and Indigenous finance and community development.

Chinese diplomats are courting Canadian First Nations groups
China is deepening its ties with Canadian First Nations as Indigenous control over land and resources becomes increasingly consequential — despite longstanding warnings about Beijing’s efforts to influence Indigenous communities.
It’s also recently been revealed that the Canadian military was bamboozled into providing specialized training and mentoring at multinational war games for the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in 2023 by former Defence Minister Anita Anand.
Reports show that military officials wrestled with how the move would be perceived when it was eventually made public, and an initial response was to state that the military was not “directly training PLA personnel at this time”.
This was later revised, and internal messages confirmed that’s exactly what they were to do under Anand’s direction. Keep reading.

Yesterday, CBC Calgary decided to run ads exclusively in Punjabi.
The specific advertisement that aired on CBC Calgary featured English subtitles and followed an Indian woman living abroad who arranged medical care for her mother back in India. She gets access to funds by taking an overdraft against a fixed deposit with the bank, allowing her to send money back home in India.
This advertisement was part of a campaign run by Axis Bank, whose main corporate headquarters is in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, called “Far Away But Never Apart”.
When questioned, CBC responded to Juno News by saying they have “limited control” over their own advertisements. Keep reading.

The younger generation will think it a fable, but at distant one time, say eleven years ago, this was considered foreign interference into Canada’s domestic affairs and there would have been diplomatic repercussions.
I am old enough to remember when Pearson publicly told de Gaulle where to go and how to get there when he interfered regarding Quebec. But don’t expect Carney to display the same moral courage. He would rather pretend courage against Trump’s trolling over doing something about actual foreign interference through infiltration.
