Despite speculation online that the BC Conservative Party is receiving “anemic” levels of funding, a senior member of the party tells Juno News that the party is on track to meet its fundraising targets this quarter.
According to Fritz Radandt, BC Conservative Leader Kerry Lynne Findlay’s campaign manager, the party’s financial experts estimate that the party has received “well over $400,000” in the third quarter so far and is expected to meet its targets.
Radandt explained that the complete numbers are not yet available as the quarter will not be over until the end of the month.
To compare with the governing party, Juno News reached out to the BC NDP to get their fundraising estimates, but received no reply.
In the first two quarters of this year, while anticipating and during the party’s leadership race, the BC Conservatives performed better than the governing NDP.
In the first quarter, for example, from the beginning of January to the end of March, the BC Conservatives raised $1,083,187, while Premier David Eby’s party raised $702, 820.
In the second quarter of this year, while the leadership race was ongoing, the BC Conservatives raised $1,146,268.68 against the NDP’s $1,114,505.03.
In August, The Findlay Files, a social media account on X, claimed that fundraising for the Conservative Party of British Columbia had “dried up to anemic levels” since Findlay became leader of the party.
”Without leadership-related fees, Q3 is shaping up to have fundraising on par with 2021-2022, when the party didn’t have a single seat,” the user said on X.
The Findlay Files did not respond to Juno News’ requests for comment on the new fundraising numbers.
