I wonder if the police are just making up stuff now against homeowners who are being killed by home invaders? I would tend to not believe much if anything the police tell the public. Was this home owner really "targetted" or have the police simply invented this theory to make this violent crime appear less provocotive to the public for the sake of not arousing the anger of the public about all of the home invasions taking place? The information police are now days releasing to the public is paltry and indeed scarce. They hardly provide many public details as they did 10 or 15 years ago about descriptions of potential criminals. When a criminal is non-white the police refuse to give many details or descriptions of appearance, race, color or any other details. However, its more than often the opposite approach when an alleged caucasian criminal's description is given to the public. In almost every case, a full description is usually provided to the "media". I would suggest that citizens are and have lost faith in our police forces as they collude with corrupt, woke, left wing governments in protecting violent criminals which also support loosening of bail conditions and penalites for convicted criminals. I would sadly even say that I no longer trust police, judges, courts and surely not our governments any longer. They all have been corrupted to the point of making these institutions completely impotent and corrupt in conducting their functions to serve justice.....In Canada there is no to little justice for innocent law abiding victims of non-violent and violent crime......Our governments expect citizens to allow ourselves to be victims of crime without allowing us a fair and reasonable opportunity to fight back and robustly defend ourselves and loved ones from home invaders and other violent criminal attacks.......

Canadian laws! Hell what they have for laws here is about the same or worse than having no laws. With no law, one can protect ones self. With what we have the attacker is protected and the defender is convicted. Absolutely a backwards set of laws, which should be thrown out.

Equal force is absolutely ridiculous.

If a meth head enters my home in the middle of the night, what is considered equal or reasonable force?

Should I ask him to participate in a drug test first so I can determine what is correct in the eyes of the law?

I have watched live filmed cop shows that take four cops to get the cuffs on one meth head. Am I really expected to deal with a meth head with my bare hands because he has no weapons. That's insane!!!! That is the same logic that a woke liberal would use.

Let's just say, the criminal has a bat and I have a gun. As soon as I turn on the lights, I need to request he stops swinging at me so I can exchange my gun for a bat. Here is my problem, what if I don't have a bat or what if he doesn't want to wait for me to go and find one. Maybe I should ask him to hold my gun while I go and look for a bat.

It's not about what it fair, it is about living to see tomorrow and most importantly, protecting your family.

Any officer of the law will tell you that drugs can give a person super human strength. There is no such thing as fair when you are fighting for your life.

The Americans have it right.

Oh well,

Sorry for the rant.

It's been a while since I have heard someone make such a stupid comment.

Thanks,

Rocky.

Ever hear of the "Implied Licence" doctrine in Common Law? Likely not. But hey, I can go with the "Castle (joker)" doctrine - Can't wait to frag that lil snotty Grrrl-Guide beyach with her crap, overpriced cookies who puts 1 foot on my walk!

I AGREE with our legal standards "that unlike some U.S. states with so-called “castle doctrine” laws, Canadian law does not grant homeowners absolute rights to use deadly force against intruders".

"The Criminal Code permits reasonable force in defence of property or life" is the way it should be. The coppers likely made a chicken-shite, cover-yer-arse call as they often do, or buddy confessed he wanted to kill the freak-intruder.

That's dancing on the head of a pin to defend your--and Canada's--stupid law. If you intrude on private property, you should reap the consequences of your criminal behaviour, period.

Arm yourself. Enter my home and your dead, don't matter what the cops and judge says. You will be the one dead, and the cop and judge can go to hell.

Elaine, you are one the right side, and on the right side of mentality. Most people would support that of which you believe. The government and laws have run wild, and gone off the track. There is no human logic in these insane laws. I can't nor can anyone tell you what you should do, but your insides will tell you. You're not alone.
