Air travel between Canada and the U.S. has seen a “striking decline” amid the escalating trade war, with passenger numbers dropping by as much as 70 per cent during the peak travel months.
That was the case with me. Last year I was thinking of a trip to Arizona. But when I looked at the new hotel prices and car rental, then factor in the poor exchange rate I stopped planning. The one thing I found reasonable was the air travel.
This tariff war may have some effect on travel, the many people I know who have decided not to travel or cancelled travel is because the Liberals have tanked our currency it’s worthless. They have decided to travel Canada this year.
Many people that I know that regularly travel to the US for our winter didn’t go because of our worthless Canadian $ and the 40+% hit on exchange.
That would be my rationale too, the crappy dollar. Otherwise I'd happily go to the states. Silly 'elbows up' nonsense.
