Not a fan of quebec or its separatist party. However on this issue, they are bang on! Now if my weathervane, govern-by-the-polls Ontario premier dug frod would grow some scruples, we could join the show and start to be a responsible province.

Love this idea. And work permits by province, no mobility.

Speaks more sense in a week than the liberal party in over a decade.

Another one ...

They are on a roll ....

I would think there are a lot of Canadians completely on side on this one as well.

Based on recent comments however that would certainly exclude the ignorant and dangerous loud mouth buffoon who is the Premier of OntArWeOwe and good buddies with The Conman.

What has been lost in the Alberta referendum is that the first five questions of the ten question ballot address the need to restrict immigration. While the tenth question regarding separation has received all the press and is likely to favour remaining, it is also likely these questions to restrict immigration will pass with a significant majority. Then there will be two major provinces with the mandate to strive for restricted immigration.

Not that the federal Liberals and their Ontario CINO premier will take notice or care. It will be like the 70s when Lougheed and Lévesque allied against the federal Liberals of Ol’ Pierre and their then CINO premier of Ontario, Bill Davis.

While it's heartening to hear the PQ criticize the Liberals - over anything - don't read too much into it. No one needs to clutch their pearls worrying about la belle province leaving Canada.

That's not going to happen any time soon. Or ever - as long as the federal Liberals hang on to power.

Quebec has everything it needs from Canada. They are virtually their own country with their own laws already. The Official Languages Act for one, is imposed on the rest of Canada, Quebec remains unilingual, etc, etc. They are supported and financed by the rest of Canada via welfare payments. They are over-represented in our bloated, highly-paid civil service. Why on earth would they want to change that?

Quebec also has something called Le Bloc Quebecois, occupying seats in the federal government. This federal separatist party gets to vote, and has done so, on matters of concern to the rest of the country. This is straight from the other side of the looking glass. The only province to exercise that control. In return for its existence, the BLOC has always propped up the Liberals in any HOC vote. The BLOC would be the first and immediate casualty of separation. The PTB will simply not allow them to separate. Period.

But none of the above should really concern anyone - except of course insofar as it maintains the very one-sided status quo.

What I'm concerned about is what's between the lines in Plamondon's complaint. It is not very subtle and it's meaningful that this is the very first thing the new leader of the PQ brings up.

It sounds to me as though he's already positioning Quebec to demand only the number of immigrants he wants and only the best, educated, and immediately productive type of immigrant. Something that every province wants, a turnkey immigration system that he customises and controls. He knows what's coming with the lunatic Century Initiative. If and when he gets this demand (and why wouldn't he?) - the rest of us will be left with even more of the dregs, criminals, and Untouchables from our 3rd world 'donors'. There are only so many 'good' immigrants to go around.

Over the past 50 years, Quebec has been the greediest, neediest province in the country. I cannot recall a single instance of the federal government not bowing to a demand from the squeaky, prissy gerbils in Quebec City.

Hey Doug Ford! Pay attention! Don't wait until it's too late. Get into the same lineup as Plamondon. Wrestle him for position or Ontario will be flooded with even more of the worst.

You are 💯 bang on! Here are couple good examples:

Quebec receives almost 50% of equalization payment every year.

The famous language Bill 101 in Quebec. This legislation leaded to PQ government having language polices.

Dennis Cross's avatar

This makes sense, and every single Province should follow suit. On top of that we should follow Quebec's lead concerning language. Alberta should declare English the official language and require all transactions to be in that language.

John Ravenhill's avatar

Amazing that this policy is acceptable in Quebec and considered racist in Alberta.

It’s because Ontario and Quebec are major voting sources for Liberal Party.

At least they're speaking up and fighting for what they want. More than Corney's pions who just sit and do nothing. Or the rest of canada who don't seem to care that Corney is destroying our country.

BC here, and that about the only thing I agree with from Quebec. That’s exactly how it should be. I am a minority in my neighbourhood now, and we all do not share the same Canadian values. Some people are lovely and some are not so much. I live in one of the extortion capitals of Canada.

Good. Take complete control

That’s easy for him to do. Separate from Canada, then form your own borders. Not rocket surgery here
