Perhaps ...

BUT

A question...

One based on current observation and the sad reality that they once again voted for the most Canada destructive party in its history again. Allowing it to retain power and likely complete it's demise.

That question...

Is there any proof that currently Canada is even capable of actually growing up?

Franz Kafka's avatar

The election was, alleged by many, to have been rigged. Not necessarily at the ballot box itself but "Seven ways to sundown" as Mark Schumer described the capabilities of the deep state and the CIA to 'bend' outcomes.

You don't think important decisions, especially in times of radical change from above, would be left to the hoi-polloi and the proles do you?

{Logan} Untitled's avatar

No, not until the current regime is ousted. And a good point William.

Don Hrehirchek's avatar

Answer- get government out of the economy! If this was to happen -it would be called a competitive, free market.

John Bradley's avatar

Get rid of the supply management system. It does not work for Canadians. Proof: look at the price of eggs and milk over the past year.

Mike Robinson's avatar

Yes, very high, but just wait until you see the price of chicken in 2026!

Sherry 1's avatar

I just saw a ribeye steak in Safeway for $60.00 !!!!!!

Mike Robinson's avatar

Not sure if beef is controlled by supply management, but yes, it is also extremely high. I'm in Sarnia, Ont., and the beef prices are sky high here as well, so happening right across Canada.

Sherry 1's avatar

Beef and Chicken prices are NORMAL in the States…we are there a lot. So something is going on in Canada. I personally think the government CFIA is involved. They are not only culling ostriches in B.C., they are culling thousands of chickens, 30,000 at a time (‘bird flu’ 🙄) so who knows HOW they are attacking our ranchers? We need to find out.

Mike Robinson's avatar

Could very well be the case. Obviously some of that is necessary for health reasons, but given the apparent latitude of the CFIA, it certainly needs to be investigated.

Mad Max's avatar

no supply management on beef. Its again the 2 big guys controlling the feedlots, markets and killing plants. JGL and Cargill. They have the feed lots, they have the buyers at the auctions or direct to the bigger farmers.. Farmers are price takers. Take it or leave it. Very small amount of abattoirs can survive with all the red tape needed now. It has all been taken over including grain. Another reason why you hardly see any grain elevators anymore. A number of fires took care of some of them. Kind of like churches. Who will rebuild those? Rail lines taken out. Farmers now have to have a class 1 licence to haul their grain with a second trailer attached for the distances they have to travel. Again, cost and being big enough to supply what elevators are left owned by just a few huge corporations.

{Logan} Untitled's avatar

I guess that beef will never be in my freezer.

Sherry 1's avatar

Not unless you vote for pro ranchers Conservative next go-around!

{Logan} Untitled's avatar

Been voting conservative all my life. I'm seventy eight years and counting. That didn't do much for the beef price. And there is a shortage of beef right now, as the US will buy all they can get. Many beef producers cut their herd size in the last few years. As the lieberal regime has created a great increase in feed and operation costs in the last few years with their swindle taxes. If you want better food prices you'd best look at your friends in the east who keep shoring up the lieberals. And you can expect there will never be another election.

Sherry 1's avatar

Agree with all you say. I think the East is doing to our Agriculture what Trudeau ‘the first’ did to our oil resource with the NEP. They are just being more subtle this time about the rape of the Western Provinces.

More like: Why 2026 will force Canada to grow "DOWN" on food policy...and by grow down I mean, suffrage across the nation and all the people, except for of course the corrupt political puppets and their henchmen - elitist's, oligarchs, WEF groupies, UN groupies, WHO groupies...

{Logan} Untitled's avatar

Yes, as we pay for their diet.

Franz Kafka's avatar

"Prime Minister Carney has signaled firmness on market access, backed by legislation that shields supply management from parliamentary debate." Lovely.

That sounds free and democratic.

Mark "O, Who Cares" Carney must like this arrangement.

We see now that secrecy is the friend of the Oligarchs.

Should we not be thanking Trump for lifting the lid off this universe of secret, Palace-style conspiracies... whoops, sorry, 'agreements' among the Liberal Laurentian Elites and expat Canadian Oligarchs, like Carney, in London who are impoverishing us?

Maybe Trump is not 'All Bad' as some, not disinterested parties, would have people believe.

Franz Kafka's avatar

"Prime Minister Carney has signaled firmness..."

His "foxy" wife should we warned to bring home condoms.

A complete shift in the way we look at food and what we consume.

A complete change in policies regarding agriculture and the production of our food is needed. Why are we protecting 9,000 dairy farmers? Having an open and international outlook would really change the products we could purchase and the price we would pay.

Sherry 1's avatar

GREAT article. Bill Gates’ and the UNAgenda 2030 attack on the world’s farmers must STOP. The UN ‘sustainability’ goals are ridiculous IMHO. How did that organization go from Blue Helmets keeping the peace to a bunch of third world bureaucrats telling the industrialized world how to live?

Also. Heads up if they are talking about new food labelling! In the U.K. they are labelling the amount of CARBON it took to produce the item. I guess the plan is that when you go to pay, that info is scanned into your digital ID and deducted from your monthly allowable Carbon Credits. 🤡

Marilyn Hagerman's avatar

Have we not yet determined that the UN partners with the WHO and the WEF?? That they represent a collective globalist communist infiltrated group of elites designed to create a one-world government with complete control of all humanity…..run by these corrupt bastards that congregate in Davos?? Carney being a leader in these groups!! “Portraying livestock as inherently incompatible with sustainability ignores nutritional, economic, and ecological realities” is yet another stealthy way of starving people into government controlled submission!

Any intellectually wise Canadian knows without doubt that Carney has no intention of doing a single thing to benefit Canada or Canadians - now or ever!! The past years of Trudeau/Carney “inspired wrecking-ball” leadership should leave “O” doubt!!

The dairy cap idiocy for example, was levied strictly to benefit vote-getting Quebec farmers. Excessive over-production of quota results in the daily dumping of billions of gallons of milk…..a national disgrace!! Farmers everywhere know this! Quota costs to start up even a tiny dairy farm are beyond prohibitive! It’s all about government “control”! Opening unrestricted trade with the States would be economically beneficial to all concerned.

A paragraph worth remembering…..”Well-managed grazing supports rural livelihoods, strengthens export economies, and can enhance biodiversity and soil health rather than undermine them. If policymakers are serious about food security, climate resilience, and affordability, 2026 should mark a shift away from apologizing for meat production and toward recognizing livestock as a strategic pillar of resilient food systems—not a sector to be regulated out of existence”

Now, Google “GLP-1 phenomenon” and take a long and careful read…..it should scare hell out of even the most illiterate! Healthy food production, “promoting” instead of “regulation” the competition of grocers for best pricing, would eliminate this diabolical thinking. Artificial intelligence, new front-of-package nutrition labels (to lie about values in packaged junk), the grocery code of conduct are all intentional products originating from UN/WEF globalists!!

Why is it so difficult for Canadians not to see this, to allow a corrupt creep like Carney and crew design your future???

James Turner's avatar

Lets see ... a voluntary code of conduct for grocers, created and administered by Mega Grocers, self-monitored.

Let's think about that fo ..... nah, let's not bother.

TLF's avatar

Oh Canada needs to “grow up” in most ways.

As my mother used to say Canada needs a “comeuppance” in everything possible.

The whole country is composed of liberal dunces chasing their own arse arount the room.

This year, 2026 is doomsday for “Oh Canada”!!

Freeda Rush's avatar

Great piece. I am so weary of this Country and its corruption. I am looking forward to Alberta Independence as a means to cut the destructive tentacles of Ottawa from my beloved Alberta. I Love you all my fellow Canadians.... If only you would vote in the interests of Canada. But since that's not possible.... Albertans are growing up fast and will cut the cord ASAP for our self preservation. We have great beef here by the way!

Carole Saville's avatar

I'm signing the petition on Wednesday and taking several folks with me. Alberta separation: for the win.

Carole Saville's avatar

In the last 11 years, almost every policy written buy the liberals is flawed. How could a serious government think that fertilizer is bad. Why would they put out a Canadian food guide that was bias against meat. The policy to keep our resources in the ground was another winner.

Hence, not buying anything the feds are selling.

{Logan} Untitled's avatar

All I see is a government interference in industry and more taxation that will keep increasing the cost of food dramatically. It is far past time for a revolution to kick this communist regime the hell out of the country. And serve capital punishment to same. The Author as before is falsely misleading as to the actual cause of the uncalled for rise in food prices.

Ruth semple's avatar

I had to look it up too...it's the weight loss drugs like ozempic

{Logan} Untitled's avatar

It looks more like we won't be needin that.

Dairy farmers invest millions in order to be in the business of shipping milk. To do so they need to buy expensive quota (essentially a contract). They have to accept the price processors will pay and they have to pay the trucking costs (a deduction) If they fail to meet their quota, it gets lowered so they must maintain herd health.

Trump threatens troubles unless the US gets more access yet they never ship enough to exceed their existing market share. Go figure!

Mad Max's avatar

I agree. Used to be a dairy farmer.

Bob Huehn's avatar

There is a wide variety of graded eggs available over a broad range of prices. I don't believe a case can really be made that they are overpriced- its customer's choice from $3.80 and up. per dozen

susan gerbes's avatar

I could buy Niagara eggs in Niagara Falls USA cheaper than the same egg producer in Niagara Falls Canada!!
