Isaac, Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the Atlantic Provinces but it is not a Maritime province. The other three Atlantic Provinces are Maritime Provinces.

New Brunswick is the only province with a Liberal government, but the Yukon also has a Liberal government. The other two territories have non-partisan legislatures.

How is Newfoundland not a maritime province? It's an island fcol. That's like saying Vancouver is not an island. Oh, wait...

Ruth, this is the definition of “Maritime Provinces” in the Gage Canadian Dictionary: “the provinces along the east coast of Canada, including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.” This is followed by a note on usage: “The Atlantic Provinces include the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland and Labrador.” You undermine your own case by bringing Vancouver Island into the mix. If we just went by the definition of maritime: “on or near the sea”, we would have five maritime provinces; British Columbia would be included. Nobody speaks that way.

Walid, Marc Miller is the chairman of the House of Commons Committee on Justice and Human Rights, one of the main committees, so I don't think you should call him a backbencher. You might hurt his feelings.
