Man charged with arson after historic New Brunswick church intentionally set ablaze
A 68-year-old New Brunswick man has been charged with arson after a century-old church on the Acadian Peninsula was destroyed by fire. RCMP identified Gilles Mallet as a person of interest before arresting him Monday.
Around 40 firefighters responded to the blaze around 3:30 a.m., but the historic wooden church could not be saved. Investigators later determined the fire was intentionally set.
