Mark Carney booed during Calgary Stampede appearance
Prime Minister Mark Carney was met with boos from the crowd during his appearance at the Calgary Stampede on Saturday evening, with videos of the moment quickly spreading across social media.
Carney was at the Calgary Stampede on July 11 for his first visit as prime minister.
After meeting with Treaty 6, Treaty 7 and Treaty 8 leaders, he spent the day touring the grounds, meeting attendees, and discussing issues like pipeline development before taking in the evening chuckwagon races at GMC Stadium.
Videos shared online appear to show Carney receiving audible boos from portions of the crowd while attending the evening event. Keep Reading
Jeromy Farkas endorses Carney as “favourite prime minister”
While at the Calgary Stampede, Calgary’s mayor Jeromy Farkas posted an image after meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney and Liberal MP for Calgary Confederation, Corey Hogan, endorsing the Liberals, saying the two were his “favourite.”
Farkas also delivered a speech while at the Ismaili Muslim Stampede breakfast, defending the Liberals’ mass immigration policies and denouncing “anti-Palestinian racism” and “Islamophobia.” Keep Reading
