Liberals sweep by-elections amid escalating U.S. tariff threats
The federal Liberals swept all three by-elections Monday, winning in Beaches–East York, Chicoutimi–Le Fjord and North Vancouver–Capilano.
The Liberal sweep brings the party to 173 seats in the House of Commons, further strengthening Prime Minister Mark Carney’s majority government.
The victories come as trade tensions with the U.S. have reignited in recent weeks, with tariffs being announced by both governments on either side of the border. Keep Reading

Land acknowledgement defender leaves BC Conservative caucus
BC Conservative MLA A’a:liya Warbus has left the party’s caucus, becoming the seventh MLA to depart since Kerry-Lynne Findlay became leader.
Warbus stated she has “lost confidence” in Findlay’s leadership, citing communication problems, instability within the party, and the “parade” of departures and firings in recent months.
She also once said opposition to land acknowledgements showed that racism was “alive and well,” and advocated that MLAs who rejected the narrative that the historic Kamloops Residential School was a secret mass murder site should be kicked out of the party. Keep Reading
