Having swept all three federal by-elections on Monday – Beaches–East York, Chicoutimi–Le Fjord, and North Vancouver–Capilano – the Liberal party will now hold 173 seats in the House of Commons, further strengthening Prime Minister Mark Carney’s majority government.
The victories come after trade tensions with the U.S. have reignited over the last few weeks with tariffs being announced by both governments north and south of the border.
