Canada-U.S. trade talks have collapsed, with an additional $28 billion in U.S. tariffs taking effect after Canada rejected Washington’s latest offer.
Prime Minister Mark Carney said the U.S. has repeatedly changed its reasons for imposing tariffs, but maintained that a mutually beneficial trade agreement remains possible.

Former Fauci adviser pleads guilty over hidden COVID records
Dr. David Morens, a former senior adviser to Dr. Anthony Fauci, admitted using personal Gmail to conceal government communications tied to COVID-19 research.
Prosecutors say Morens and a co-conspirator worked to “counter the narrative” that COVID-19 leaked from a Wuhan lab.
FBI Director Kash Patel said the investigation remains ongoing. The Justice Department says Morens and his co-conspirator exchanged non-public NIH information and “back-channel” communications that should have been preserved as federal records. Keep Reading
Federal Court freezes flood of challenges to Liberal border law
The Federal Court has frozen all current and future constitutional challenges to Bill C-12, citing the volume and complexity of cases. Court officials said the legal pileup is placing “considerable demands” on judicial and registry resources.
The law gives cabinet broad powers to suspend immigration document processing and introduces new restrictions on asylum claims, including limits on when and where claims can be filed.
