BREAKING: Canada-U.S. trade talks fall apart, additional tariffs take effect

Carney said the U.S. has “continually changed their rationale” for violating the terms of the CUSMA.

Trade negotiations between Canada and the United States have fallen apart, with an additional $28 billion in U.S. tariffs taking effect as a result.

“I believe people on the ground on both sides of the border want this relationship to work,” Carney told reporters on Saturday, without providing any details of what was discussed behind closed doors. “The bonds between Canada and America remain strong.”
