B.C. Premier David Eby has given conflicting accounts regarding his knowledge of a federal agreement recognizing Musqueam Aboriginal title across Metro Vancouver, as the agreement is being released publicly by Ottawa for the first time.
The agreement, signed on February 20, 2026, acknowledges Musqueam rights, including title, over an area that encompasses Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, and several surrounding municipalities. The territory covers roughly 1.8 million residents.
