Ontario Premier Doug Ford called on Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to work with Prime Minister Mark Carney, after praising Carney’s handling of U.S. trade relations.
“Work with the Prime Minister,” Ford said in reply to a reporter asking if he had any message for the Conservative leader, who is facing a by-election today in the Alberta riding of Battle River—Crowfoot to re-enter the House of Commons for the fall session.
Trade tensions with the U.S. dominated the questions posed to the premier minutes after his meeting with the prime minister concluded.
Ford was asked if he would be taking a trip down to Washington, D.C., anytime soon, to which he replied, “Not likely.”
Ford used the bulk of his remarks to praise Carney’s approach in dealing with Washington.
“He’s doing an incredible job… He’s working collaboratively with 12 other premiers and myself as Team Canada,” Ford said. “I challenge anyone: try to deal with Donald Trump.”
While Ford said “nothing happens immediately” from such meetings, he stressed that both Ottawa and Queen’s Park were aligned on cutting regulatory burdens, supporting domestic industries and keeping Canada competitive as trade tensions escalate.
It is next-level hypocrisy that Ford has the audacity to tell Poilievre to work with Carny. Guinness Book of World Records level.
What alternate universe does Ford live in?
Oh wait, I get it. He doesn't actually expect this. But when Poilievre refuses, then Carny can start blaming him for not being a "Team Canada" player. This will provide Ford and Carny another place to point fingers - aside from Donald Trump for all their Liberal failures. That's beginning to wear thin.
Don't be misled into believing Ford became a Liberal out of some great admiration for Mark Carny. That's another con.
Ford was firmly in the Liberal camp, long before Carny came on the scene. For at least four years prior to the last election, Ford appeared in numerous venues beside Justin Trudeau. The images of him, standing just to the rear of, and smiling up at Mr Blackface/Dressup are telling.
Imagine that. Doug Ford actively supported that juvenile waste of the planet's oxygen.
