The FBI aren't at fault. One of the guys they took in for interrogation approached them and basically acted like he knew something to let the killer get away. He admitted to this himself. I think the other guy was in there as a front for the killer and a delay tactic. Maybe he was the guy who flew the small plane registered to the killers home town and turned their radar off so the air traffic couldn't communicate with him or follow him. Sounds immature to me as they knew who the plane was licensed to.
