Sheer madness chosen as fact. Where is the proof? Perhaps those that attended a fairly normal school are happy with a normal life' ; not living on a reservation. 150,000 in the whole scheme of things is a relatively small number. This lady insisting on jailing people for not believing the story is only increasing "hate" for their tale that has never been proven. Kooks all around

Interesting...

When he can't lie or make things up (he leaves that to Indians and others) he speaks in weasel.

Makes sense though.

Wonder which side of his mouth he was talking from?

September 30th, National Lies and Division Day.

I don't deny that residential schools existed.

I deny mass graves exist without proof. Kamloops for example was supplied with 12.5 million taxpayer dollars to supply the proof. Who's pockets did those funds end up in, as no excavation has ever even been attempted, and the tribe keeps demanding more money to keep the grift going.

They used it to buy more casinos

In Arizona, no doubt.

Marilyn Tanguay's avatar

Maybe but they've bought quite a few if not all in BC. Beeker (Eby) probably gave them a 2 for 1 deal

First of all this bozo wouldn't know what truth is. His father was a principal of this school so why didn't he do something about "the abuse". Think how the natives would be now if "the white man" hadn't educated them. They only want government handouts. How about we stop all that and leave them to their own devices. Ya didn't think so.

Scott Bennett's avatar

Yes, you wonder if Carney would be saying the same thing if his father was still alive and able to speak to the truth.

Bevelyn's avatar

From what I can learn about his father, he was an honorable man who genuinely wanted to educate First Nations youth to enable them to live & thrive in the modern world, that is, emerge from the Stone Age world they inhabited when the white man arrived and continue to survive as a people. Carney hasn't inherited an ounce of honor, and is driven by what's best for him & his ideology, globalism, NOT what's best for Canada. The elbows-up crowd are indoctrinated useful idiots bereft of historical knowledge, thus mired in the day's trendy causes.

Marilyn Tanguay's avatar

If he did you'd think he would have taught his son what truth is.

It's unfortunate that the PM and politicians as well as the media don't know their history regarding residential schools, go to the archives for the truth and you will discover that residential schools benefited the Indians, parents were lining up to get their children enrolled in these schools so that their children could get an education. Truth and Reconciliation is a one sided story.

Bevelyn's avatar

Exactly. And scratch any Indian who is successful in our modern Canadian world, and lo & behold he/she was educated in a residential school, NOT in their fantasy 'First Nations Cultural Academies'.

May I suggest that the federal government adds up all the money they spent on this so-called burial site and takes this money out of the budget of Indian and Northern affairs departments. Then let’s see how long all of these accusations of aboriginal “genocide” continue. We all know how far will go, “tears teddy bear and kneeling” a media moment !

Monica's avatar

Truth is..dig them up

Ruth Bard's avatar

Carney's hedging his bets because there might be an election in the wind. He wants to be all things to all people.

And would it be "inciting hatred" to say those giant rainbow-fish-skeleton earrings are utterly revolting?

Canadasceptic's avatar

Chief Casimir says, "Truth takes time" with respect to uncovering remains at the so-called burial site. I suggest adding the recovery of remains to the special projects list as a project of national importance to ensure it never happens in my lifetime. This is the easiest "truth" to confirm and yet there's no impetus to set the record straight once and for all.

The so-called Indians were Never a Nation nor were they First. They were hunter/gatherers who followed the Buffalo on the Plaines or sat by the Rivers on the Coast.

They had no written language or concept of ownership . . . . until they were conquored by the Europeans.

They have sucked up over a Trillion $$$s in Reconcilliation . . . and we are still waiting for a little Truth ! ! !

No one is alive today who had anything taken from them, except maybe their Dignity, by living off the Govt all their lives. No one is alive today that actually brought Freedom and Progress to the warring Tribes of 200+ years ago.

Long past time the natives were set free from the insane "Indian Act" . . . . and they got their 40 acres and a mule ! ! !

Raine Guy's avatar

Sorry but get your facts correct. 40 acres and a mule were what blacks in the southern USA were promised at the end of the American civil war. If Indians in Canada were given a mule they would have killed and eaten it.

Dale War1's avatar

It was intended as a Pun . . . . few noticed . . . !

Historical knowledge is not common today.

Andrew's avatar

> All were separated from their culture, their language, their identities.

And that was a good thing. That's the truth that needs to be said. The natives could use residential schooling today too. The reserves are a disaster and should be dismantled.

The big idea needing confrontation is that natives are holy and knowledgeable and need respect. Reality is the opposite.

Peter Bradley's avatar

To a certain extent, the indigenous were holy and knowledgeable. Every person needs respect. Even animals like lions, tigers and whales deserve and need respect. It’s a matter of how do we show that respect. For instance, we should respect incarcerated women by keeping biological men out of women’s prisons. Parents respect their children by treating them with honesty, patience and showing them limits.

Andrew's avatar

They had no written language, and couldn't make a wheel. They treat their women and children badly. The cases of child sex abuse that cause their women to run away and turn tricks in the city. Their alcoholism. There's so much to disrespect.

When I was young, I worked at a toy store. Native boys would come in to buy model glue to sniff. No other race did that.

Any other race would have done something with those reserves. Could you image a reserve of Chinese, or Europeans, or Russians would just sit there and collect welfare. No way, they'd develop the place.

Donald/Raelene Bell's avatar

I agree, “all the truth”. It has been said that the chiefs on reservations with no schools on them had requested that the government educate their children. You never hear this in the argument. You hear that the children were taken from their families. I can imagine that this would be traumatizing to some children. I imagine, in the day, if you got out of line there would be a punishment as well, as we all experienced back then.

To call the Kamloops anomalies a mass grave is pure fiction until it has been proven. The fact that the indigenous are reluctant to dig up the site indicates to me that this was a good way for them to generate sympathy that money could cure.

Dale War1's avatar

Back at the turn of the 20th century, native on reservations had infant death rates at 2 to 3 Xs that of the folks living in the city . . . .

The Residential Schools likely saved 1000s of lives . . . and not only that, 1000s of native kids went out into the world and had a chance at a normal life away from the reservation.

I went to school with a number of native kids in the 50s and 60s . . . and they were severely normal, got a job, got married and lived life.

It was not until PETs Indian Nonsense in the 70s that the present circus began, costing us 100s of Billions.

My Swedish immigrant Grandmother, who came to Canada in 1905, within a little morel than a Decade was feeding an Indian family down the road from their farm, she and my Grandfather carved out of the Wilderness.

Some things never change it seems . . . .

I agree. Jail the people who deny the grave sites.... but first exume a few graves and then jail the ones who said there were graves where there were none ...and don't forget to call them deniers, haters, bigots because as Carney says “Truth is the foundation of justice,”
