Canadian to be deported after guilty plea in New Jersey assault on teen

Canadian citizen Kaitlyn Tracey has been ordered deported to Canada after pleading guilty to an assault charge stemming from an attack on a teenage girl at a New Jersey boardwalk last month.
Tracey, 33, via telephone from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing centre in Laredo, Texas, where she had been transferred after her arrest. Texas immigration judge Guy P. Ryan ordered her removed to Canada, while a New Jersey court sentenced her to one day in jail, with credit for time already served.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security previously said Tracey had overstayed the period authorized under her travel documents, which expired in September 2024, making her subject to deportation proceedings.
