Why Canada’s EV mandate won’t work + CBC stacked with six-figure bureaucrats
Guest host Kris Sims warns about Ottawa’s costly push to kill gas vehicles—and digs into CBC’s bloated bureaucracy with Canadian Taxpayer Federation federal director Franco Terrazzano
On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, guest host Kris Sims explains why Canada’s EV mandate is doomed to fail—and reveals the stunning growth of CBC’s six-figure bureaucracy.
The federal government wants to ban the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035. But Canada’s grid can’t support it, rural drivers are being ignored, and most Canadians simply can’t afford the shift. Kris breaks down why the mandate is unrealistic, expensive, and bound to fail.
Then, Kris is joined by Canadian Taxpayers Federation federal director Franco Terrazzano to expose new access-to-information findings about six-figure compensation at CBC/Radio-Canada.
The records show the state broadcaster currently employs:
180 managers
277 senior managers
124 directors
106 senior directors
28 executive directors
493 producers
168 senior producers
86 executive producers
36 technical producers
That’s more than 250 directors, 450 managers, and 780 producers—all earning over $100,000 a year.
Franco calls out the bloated bureaucracy and says Canadians deserve tax relief, not a media empire full of middle managers and executive producers raking in six-figure salaries on the public dime.
Fire the whole works of them. Dissolve the cbc it’s useless anyway
Pardon me, I thought that we elected people to do things for Canada that Canadians want. Why or how can we, in a democracy , be forced to buy something that most of us do not want? Was this mandate even put to a vote? One person should not be able to push his plan on everyone. That is not how it works in Canada. Give people a choice . People should have listened to the whole story before casting a vote because I think that plan was hinted at quite strongly by Mr Carny.
