Why Canada is still so woke (with Jon Kay)
Candice is joined by writer Jon Kay to discuss more fallout from the NDP convention and to discuss the ultra-cringe Juno Music Awards (not to be confused with Juno News!)
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice starts the show by breaking the news that NDP Leader Avi Lewis’s father Stephen Lewis – former UN Ambassador and former Ontario NDP Leader – has died at age 88. Candice shares a heart-warming tribute Lewis gave to his father on Sunday night.
Candice then welcomes writer and podcaster Jon Kay, editor of Quillette, to discuss the fallout from the NDP convention. They talk about the literal equity cards that members used to speak on the mics and the sad and narcissistic tendencies of speakers to obsess over themselves and their disadvantages (real and imagined).

While the Woke trend has faded and disappeared in other parts of the Western world, it is still alive and well in Canada. Candice and Jon discuss why it’s striving in Canada.
They discuss this excellent guest piece in Juno News about NDP Chair Adrianne Smith and her long history of activism and the surprisingly influential career she has had pushing this woke doctrine.
NDP Chair is even more radical than you think
Finally, they discuss the sad spectacle of the Juno Awards which Jon describes as “a hallowed annual Canadian ritual where government-subsidized Canadians pretend that ordinary Canadians enjoy listening to whatever this is supposed to be.”

All idiots in one gathering 👀
Edit needed. It was Stephen Lewis who died. David was Avi's grandfather. His father was Stephen.
