What’s behind Alberta’s $9B budget deficit?
Kris Sims breaks down Alberta’s nearly $9 billion deficit, rising debt, increased spending, and a quiet property tax hike.
On today’s episode of The Fighter, Kris Sims speaks from Edmonton during Alberta’s provincial budget week to break down the numbers behind this year’s fiscal plan. Alberta is facing a nearly $9 billion deficit, pushing total debt past $100 billion, with rising spending and a subtle property tax increase hitting homeowners.
Kris is joined by Canadian Taxpayers Federation federal director Franco Terrazzano to explain what these numbers mean for taxpayers, the province’s finances, and Alberta’s long-term economic future.
They unpack spending trends, bureaucratic growth, and the challenges of staying within Alberta’s fiscal rules — and why accountability matters now more than ever.

Unacceptable..
PERIOD... END... FULL STOP!!!!!
As per the video.
THIS IS A BAD BUDGET..
Shame on Smith on this one. On this one.. Disappointed.. Very, very disappointed.
The video has stated a number of things on which money was simply wasted, flushed down the toilet.
Thought that was an OntArWeOwe Doug Fraud thing.
Come On Danielle ... As per the end ... Be the example and lead and not a follower in this case of money squanderers like Premiers of BC, OntArWeOwe on a few other Provinces.
Can line items be adjusted after the presentation of the budget? I am hoping that if there is sufficient feedback, that changes could be made.
