What’s at stake at the UCP AGM?
CBC says Ottawa and Alberta have a pipeline outline — but B.C., Liberal MPs, and Indigenous vetoes may kill it. Candice Malcolm and Wyatt Claypool ask: real progress or political theatre?
CBC reports that Ottawa and Alberta have agreed to the outline of a new pipeline deal — a potential breakthrough after years of stalled projects. But with B.C.’s NDP government opposed, Liberal MPs warning of political fallout, and Indigenous consent requirements functioning as de facto vetoes, the project may be doomed before it begins.
Candice Malcolm and Wyatt Claypool break down what this actually means, why the political math still looks bleak, and whether Prime Minister Mark Carney is signalling real movement or simply managing optics ahead of a possible early election.
They also preview this weekend’s United Conservative Party Annual General Meeting in Edmonton, where members will vote on major policy resolutions touching energy, education transparency, flag rules for public buildings, healthcare eligibility, third-trimester abortion limits, and a push to repeal Alberta’s new no-fault auto insurance system.
Later in the show, Candice speaks with Fredric Litwiniuk of Litco Law about the impact of no-fault insurance on accident victims, why promised savings haven’t appeared, and why UCP grassroots members want the legislation reversed.

Unfortunately there are Canadian politicians who don’t want our country to survive or so it would seem !
If past performance is any indicator, this is simply more stalling and weaselspeak from Carny and the Liberals.
Carny is not required to get anyone's approval to green light a pipeline. This is a National Infrastructure project. He has the authority to override any objections from David Thurnburg-Edy.
All it requires from Carny is a modicum of spine. I'm not hopeful.
