A home surveillance video captured a man in the Richmond Hill neighbourhood of Toronto chasing down another individual before executing him in broad daylight and then taking off in a minivan.
Video surveillance footage, allegedly taken on Thursday, captures the wild scene.
A man walking down the street appears to start running after being chased by another individual into the road. He is shot, then shot again several times, before a grey minivan can very clearly be seen picking up the shooter and taking off.
York Regional Police say the deceased man, in his 40s, was killed in a “targeted shooting” Thursday night on Parker Avenue near King Road. Officers found him with gunshot wounds just before 7 p.m., and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shortly after, police were alerted to a vehicle fire near King Road and Dufferin Street, possibly linked to the incident. Two suspects are being sought, though no descriptions have been released.
A Honda Pilot resembling the vehicle in the surveillance footage was found abandoned, engulfed in flames, in the area of King Road and Dufferin Street shortly after the shooting. According to police, it is believed to be linked to the incident.
The victim has also been identified as 47-year-old Issam Saad.
Police are calling the attack “isolated,” and say there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
Authorities are asking anyone with information or footage to contact them.
