Veterans’ guide: Free meals, services and discounts this Remembrance Day
Here’s a guide to what’s available on Nov. 11, 2025.
This Remembrance Day, veterans and active service members across Canada are being recognized with a range of free services, discounts, and special offers.
From complimentary transit rides and free museum admissions to coffee, meals, and national park access, these gestures are small but meaningful ways to say “thank you” for their service and sacrifice.
Here’s a guide to what’s available on Nov. 11, 2025.
Free transit, ferry rides in major cities
Veterans and active military can ride for free on Nov. 11 in many key systems.
This includes GO Transit/Metrolinx in the Greater Toronto Area, TransLink in Metro Vancouver, BC Ferries, BC Transit, and local systems like OC Transpo (Ottawa), Grand River Transit (Waterloo), and Brampton Transit.
Some services also allow a companion to ride free. Additionally, buses and ferries in B.C. will display “Lest We Forget,” and BC Ferries will hold a two-minute silence at 11 a.m.
Free admission to Studio Bell (Calgary, AB)
Veterans and active service members receive free entry to Studio Bell on Nov. 11. The ceremony begins at 10:40 a.m., and exhibits are open 10 a.m.–5 p.m. General admission applies to other visitors.
Free hot beverage at Tim Hortons, Circle K
Across Canada, veterans and military personnel can grab a free hot beverage of any size with valid ID or in uniform on Nov. 11.
All veterans and active service members can also enjoy a free medium coffee, hot cap, tea, or iced coffee at participating Circle K locations nationwide.
Red Lobster free shrimp and chips
Veterans and active-duty members can dine in and receive a complimentary Walt’s Favourite Shrimp & Chips on Nov. 11 with proof of service. Red Lobster also offers a year-round 10% military discount.
Complimentary admission to CN Tower (Toronto, ON)
Veterans, CAF members, and Royal Canadian Legion members enjoy free timed general admission on Remembrance Day.
Admission & parking at The Toronto Zoo
Veterans, serving CAF members, and Legion members receive free admission and parking during Veterans & Military Appreciation Week (Nov. 5–11).
Free brunch at The Canadian Brewhouse (Ontario Locations)
Multiple Ontario locations are offering a free brunch item to veterans and active military on Remembrance Day until 4 p.m.
Local small business offers (Pictou County & Ottawa)
Some local vendors, like Chicks R Us inPictou County, Nova Scotia have special offers for veterans.
