Trump has a lot of other options.. A LOT.

The big one, already done is the use of a couple of sections from a 1974 Trade act.

He can do whatever he wishes up to 15% for up to 150 days then Congress needs to approve.

It's mid-term time so best of luck with that one.

There are other sections and things he can do.

One thing is certain.

Trump cannot abide losing... EVER...

None of this goes well for other countries.

The real reality though for Canada.

Trade with Canada is clearly in Trump's sights and he has some good reasons to not be happy with Canada.

This year its time to renegotiate the USMCA agreement.

Trump could just say.. NOPE.. DONE...

Reasonably assured he will do something like that and see what kind of push-back he gets.

Regardless Canada can also be reasonably assured that under Carney and his incompetent gang of trained seals and unskilled negotiators the current agreement (about to expire) might be looked upon as the best of things that used to be.

Another for Canada on the ever growing list of..

Rather misleading. There are many tariffs that are still legal and in place. The White House thanked the Supreme court for clarifying how the president of The USA can put tariffs in place legally
