In a major blow to President Donald Trump’s trade agenda, the U.S. Supreme Court has struck down his sweeping tariffs, ruling that the President illegally claimed “national emergency” powers to implement them.

The Supreme Court struck down Trump’s global tariffs that used this mechanism in a 6-3 decision, ruling they are not permitted under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
