I totally disagree with both of you. The F35 is expensive to buy and maintain, way over what they said the original costs would be. The US controls everything we might want to do with the F35. The offer from Sweden is incredible. Planes made for arctic weather, lower cost with less maintenance. New break through Rolls Royce engines. They will be made in Canada and we will control the software. It could make 10,000 new jobs in Canada. In no way will it sink Canada’s global status. Are both of you from the US???
It doesn't matter which of the 2 planes Canada purchases, neither one of them will be used in war. The air force would be better off with a fleet of civilian type aircraft than fighter jets which went out of fashion 50 years ago.
What will the jets do that the civilian aircraft cannot do? Canada is not the USA who will shoot down other aircraft. We have not shot at an enemy from a plane in 70 years.
