So the UBCO Student Union bans a Conservative Club, based up speculative fears, all in the name of inclusivity? Wouldn't inclusivity include the dues-paying students who wish to form the Conservative Club. It is hypocritical and counter-intuitive to preach inclusivity, and then exclude someone, based upon inclusivity principles. Shameful, and it sounds like a basis for a legal challenge.... Is this the higher education for which all students, and taxpayer funded financial grants are paying? It is unsettling to think that some of those on the student union executive may go on to elected provincial or federal politics, where, if elected, they will have power over the citizens.

Artsy-fartsies who know they couldn't win an argument based on facts and intelligence trying to deplatform those who reveal the truth. Typical deplatforming! That is the only way possible toreach the gullible.

Just imagine the outcry if this had been done when the "Liberal Club" was formed. My hope is that the student body itself takes actions to purge such blatant discrimination from the Student Union board. Regardless of one's political affiliations, all should find this action reprehensible. Kudos to the Liberal Club leader for echoing these sentiments.

It is a shame that freedom of speech is being impeded by UBCO Union students. UBCO is a learning institute funded by tax dollars.

My suggestion is that the students that want to form a Conservative Club should get out and volunteer in their community to get some first hand knowledge of how the party works, make it stronger and get some experience. Pull in as many people that you can... there, you have your group.

How can students control what others do, if they are living in a free world under a free society in the university. That's a dictatorship. If I was in there we would have our party whether the ignorant union liked it or not. More lieberal controls.

Doublespeak at its finest.

“That said, UBC Okanagan stands firmly behind its responsibility to uphold its principles of free, lawful, and respectful expression of all views and opinions, even those with which some may disagree.”

So, basically, "We support free speech, just not for people we disagree with."

The veneer on this totalitarian move is so thin, you can see right through it. These young authoritarians are not going to like it when the worm turns. Their day is approaching.
