Whatta Buffoon!!..All thru the election, Carney talked tough about Trump (and the friendly Canada /US relationship being OVER) and then..just as any True Canadian knew, Carney stuck his nose so far up Trump's ass he cud smell earwax!! This is the guy who said he wouldn't even talk to Trump until he lifted the tariffs..grimacing, fidgeting, and squirming in his chair like he was crapping himself!! I'll bet the farm that CBC reported a different take on that meeting and convinced their viewers on how well their boss handled Trump.lololol.. Great job Candice..

Mr Carney diminished, disparaged, and campaigned against US President Trump - and now he endured President Trump saying that the USA does not need Canadian cars and products.

Mr Carney and Team Incompetent folded in private talks.

Sorry, Candace, this is mostly bullshit. I am a Conservative and think that Carney is the wrong guy for Canada economically and in other ways, but your characterization of the meeting is nonsense. Like it or not, Trump is there and he will always do “Trump”. Carney was in his “house” and that was the right place to be. To get into a pissing contest there would have been really stupid. We need to take a longer view of the challenges that we face with the Trump administration and show some maturity with as much strength as we have, and we do have a lot in areas that do matter to the USA. Trump will never admit that, so we need to work outside of Trump and I think that Carney is smart enough to understand that. Will we win everything? No. Will we do better by taking a firm but respectful approach to the American people, writ large? That is my thought as someone who has done some politicking and tried not to be a bull in a China shop, sometimes successfully. I understand your and Juno News partisan approach and support it most, but not all, of the time.

Mr Carney had the expression of a person with a mouth full of feces while he listened to President Trump tell the USA that the US did not need Canada as a trading partner. That alone should be a message to those Canadians who voted this incompetent into power.

It sickens me to have another Globalist pedophile Chinese puppet as PM, he was not voted in fairly, Elections Canada is corrupt just like every institution and every level of gov, Carney's wife looks like she could kick the crap out of him & when he won & hugged her/him I seen more affection from two hockey sticks hugging lol...!!!

I am a Conservative voter and am definitely opposed to Carney as our Prime Minister, but the way you presented this is simply wrong and obviously partisan. Please just report the facts and leave your biased opinions out of it

Elbows down?

I like how Trump just dumps on Turdeau (no misspelling) and Freeland and he just takes it. It's being branded as temperance and statesmanship, but the triggered boomers voted for someone to put Trump in his place. This is standing up, is it?

Somehow, I don't think this is what they voted for. I am looking forward to the mental gymnastics that they will go through to rationalize to themselves that a) Carney is actually the tough guy in this situation and b) this is what they wanted all along.

I am even more astounded that people voted for this. It appears that about half of the country is made up of morons and ignorant idiots. It is a hopeless place that this country has sunken into, a sea of criminals loaded with enough bs to smother us all. Alberta must save it's self. The only salvation.

Trump is 100% right on making Canada part of the US but it should be separate States per province and not just one

Expanding on that, as I see it Carney is a globalist climate czar stuck between Trump administration driving US nationalism and Alberta Western provinces demanding common sense reforms both directly in opposition to Carney Liberal ideology There is a high percentage of Canadians that WOULD take the offer to be US if it became available without a doubt. I can see a real chance Canadian Federalism implodes resulting in Provincial autonomy before this is finished. Truthfully, what is the Federal government doing anyways? Nothing in their mandate is getting done as it is.

Exactly!

Main reason for the election loss,

Boomers always watch MSM TV media CBC, CTV, Global news. Pierre‘s message did not reach to boomers and many Canadians through MSM TV.

William Shatner said Carney should have said to Trump that the US could become the 11th province. That would have been the perfect line & glad he didn't think of it. I don't think he will ever be able to work with Trump & I'd hate for him to actually score some points. It would confuse the truth....

Sad to discover that some of our Honorable Members of Parliaments do not honor agreements with Allies, nor what they say to Canadians. No wonder, “Old relationship with the US, is over.”

I put myself in Carney's shoes, thought he did ok. Canadians need to realize the US is not the problem, but how we respond to the challenge is critical. We need to diffuse and moderate the issues while we reinvigorate our own economic position, rebuild and reorient infrastructure to minimize reliance on the whims of the US or anybody else. The scope of this will take decades and the US trade is critical to fund the upgrades. So be humble however you must, and when resources are refined and shipped never crossing a US border and trade is no longer hostage to US dogma Canada will be self sufficient, not before. Foolish to allow our governments over many generations to undermine what is the most wealthy country in the world by lack of vision and development.

I Always vote right of centre, do not like Carney, and believe he will be worse than Trudeau. But I disagree with your headline. It's a cheap gotcha headline, most unfit for JunoNews. I watched or read Fox National, Toronto Sun, National Post, Calgary Sun, etc. Carney didn't get pulled into a loosing on camera fight with Trump. Trump is a babbling buffoon and it's best to let him rant because there is no reasoning with him. But what was discussed off camera in private is more important and we'll never know.

Go back to press releases / interviews with the CEzo of Brookfield prior to the election of Carney as Liberal crown prince. The CEO said something like Carney will cave on Trumps tariffs, so he (Carney) can get on with his WEF plan for Canada.

Bill's avatar

The little problem that Trump US will not allow an enemy sitting on the border nor Western Canada tolerating much more economic deterioration makes the WEF a moot point. Carney must make the economy get up and run or he is finished.
