Trump says 51st state can keep "O'Canada" as anthem
"We'll have to figure something out... because I actually like 'O Canada.' It's a great anthem. I think we'll have to keep it for the 51st state,” said Trump.
President Donald Trump says if Canada becomes the 51st U.S. state, Canadians can retain their national anthem.
"We'll have to figure something out... because I actually like 'O Canada.' It's a great anthem. I think we'll have to keep it for the 51st state,” said Trump during an address to the Republican Governors Association in Washington, D.C. on Friday.
Trump also claimed Canada received 95 per cent of its products from the U.S. and that “Governor Trudeau” will likely lose the next election.
Trump’s latest remark is the latest in a series of statements advocating for the annexation of Canada.
Trump has also proposed imposing multiple tariffs on Canadian goods, including a 25% tariff on all goods. He has suggested that statehood could be a way for Canada to avoid such economic measures.
The President's rhetoric has been met with strong opposition from Canadian officials. Prime Minister Trudeau firmly rejected the notion, stating there is "not a snowball's chance in hell" that Canada would join the United States.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre echoed this sentiment, asserting that Canada will never become the 51st state.
While I support most of what TRUMP is doing, he's missing the boat on this 51st State thing.
.
He is PI$$ING OFF patriotic Canadians and that's NOT GOOD.
.
His efforts may create yet another Lib-NDP coalition and 4 more years of HELL
.
Mr. Trump with all due respect Go To Hell!
