Trump laughs off Doug Ford’s $75M anti-tariff ad blitz

U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s new $75-million anti-tariff ad campaign aimed at American voters, calling the effort ineffective.
“I saw an ad last night from Canada,” Trump said Tuesday during remarks on the White House lawn. “If I was Canada, I’d take that same ad also. But they’re actually on television taking ads. I do believe that everybody is too smart for that.”
Ford unveiled the campaign last week during a speech at the Empire Club of Canada in Toronto.
The ads counter Trump’s 25 per cent tariff on Canadian-made vehicles and parts, a trade measure that has disrupted auto production in Ontario and prompted layoffs.
Set to air across major U.S. networks, the ad features a clip from former U.S. president Ronald Reagan in 1987 warning that protectionist trade policies ultimately hurt American workers.
“High tariffs inevitably lead to retaliation by foreign countries and the triggering of fierce trade wars,” Reagan says in the ad, which is overlaid with images of families, factories and job sites.
Ford told the business crowd he was inspired by Reagan’s words and believed the late president’s voice would resonate in Republican strongholds.
“We’re going to repeat that message to every Republican district there is, right across the entire country,” Ford said, noting the ads were not intended to be “nasty” but “very factual.”
The Ontario government has launched similar campaigns in the past, but this marks its most expensive attempt to directly influence U.S. policy.
The campaign comes amid escalating trade friction between Canada and the United States. Trump has justified the tariffs as a strategy to bring automotive jobs back to the U.S., stating repeatedly that he does not want American car buyers to depend on imports from Canada or Mexico.
Auto manufacturers and unions in Ontario have warned that the tariffs are forcing companies to shift production to the U.S., including Stellantis’ recent decision to relocate Jeep Compass manufacturing to Illinois. Ford has argued that these measures unfairly target Canadian workers and harm integrated North American supply chains.
With "leaders" like Dung Ford and Mr. Carndeau two left wing extremists it is not surprising that Canada & Ontario are deep in debt and sinking into the pit of bankruptcy. Both entities put billions of taxpayer $$$$ into a green grifter gamble on EVs, and lost taxpayer's shirts. Both bet that Donald Trump would not get elected and Biden/Kamella would and carry on with the grift. Now having lost their bet they blame Trump for their massive deficits. unemployment,, inflation, you know the stuff we have had for 10 years of socialism.
I would laugh to. Fatty is a weasel, he pops up where ever he thinks it's safe, spits out some lieberal lunatic speech then retreats. Apparently he has Ontario in the same condition kanaduuh is in.
