Trump, Carney agree to reach trade deal within 30 days
U.S. President Donald Trump believes a trade deal with Prime Minister Mark Carney could be reached within “days” as the two meet at the G7 summit in Kananaskis, Alta.
Prime Minister Mark Carney’s readout from his G7 meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump indicates that the two leaders plan to finalize a new trade deal within 30 days, marking the first time either side has set a timeframe for negotiations.
Their discussions also covered collaboration on border security and critical minerals in addition to potential defence cooperation. The White House has yet to release its own readout from the meeting.
