Toronto's 2SLGBTQ committee calls to rename Queen’s Park
One Toronto activist claimed the current name spoke to the “insidious nature of settler colonialism.”
Calls to rename Queen’s Park to an Indigenous name were discussed during a City of Toronto 2SLGBTQ Advisory Committee meeting last week, with one speaker saying the current name reflected the “insidious nature of settler colonialism.”
A portion of the meeting focused on an update on the Queen’s Park North Revitalization Project, during which the committee was asked whether renaming the park in honour of an Indigenous person had come up as part of the consultation process.
