Toronto Star rips off Juno News reporting + Carney Liberals oppose justice reform bills but pass a censorship bill
Carney government blocks justice reforms, slams Air Canada, and dodges terror financing questions as Liberals pass Bill C-9. PLUS Melanie Bennet joins Candice after the Toronto Star lifts her scoop.
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice gives us a political update from Ottawa. Prime Minister Carney gave an angry condemnation of the Air Canada CEO for his English-only condolences over the devastating crash on Sunday evening at LaGuardia. Meanwhile, his Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand refused to comment on a Vancouver company accused of financing a terrorist group. Priorities?
Next, Candice discusses votes in the House of Commons yesterday evening, where three Conservative crime motions were defeated. Here is how Conservative MP Andrew Scheer described it:
While the Liberal government seems incapable of cracking down on dangerous criminals, the Liberals did pass a bill to crack down on so-called “hate speech” including, apparently, quoting the Bible.
Yes, during a committee hearing on Bill C-9, Identity and Culture Minister Marc Miller cited the Biblical book of Leviticus as an example of a text that showed “clear hatred towards homosexuals.”

Next, Candice welcomes Juno News investigative journalist Melanie Bennet to the show. They discuss Melanie’s scoop that the Hamilton school board ordered graduation ceremonies to be run through an “anti-oppressive, anti-racist, anti-colonial lens.” In response to her explosive story, Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra issued his own letter calling on graduation ceremonies to be apolitical.
In response to that common sense letter trying to remove deranged left-wing politics from our school’s graduation ceremonies, the legacy media began demanding that Minister Calandra apologize.
To make matters worse, the Toronto Star lifted our Juno News reporting without any attribution – which is a clear breach of journalistic ethics and a violation of the Canadian Press guidelines. Melanie demanded an apology, rightly so, but the Toronto Star refused.
The Toronto Star is a recipient of federal funding, and yet, they resort to stealing reports from independent journalists without so much as giving them credit. It’s truly pathetic and disgraceful.
