After several synagogues, Iranian dissident businesses, and even the U.S. Consulate building were recently targeted in shootings across Toronto, police have announced a new “counter-terrorism unit.” The Toronto Police Services promised a task force to patrol high-risk areas and events with semi-automatic rifles.

The Toronto Police Services announced Tuesday that they would be ramping up security and establishing an information-sharing and “rapid response” counter-terrorism unit in a bid to keep targeted communities, such as Toronto’s Jewish and Iranian diaspora, safe from the threat of terror.
