Conservatives are demanding Prime Minister Mark Carney shut down revived military talks with China, accusing him of rebuilding ties with a regime he previously called Canada’s “biggest security threat.”

Conservative defence critic James Bezan and foreign affairs critic Eric Duncan called on Carney Wednesday to end the renewed Canada-China Defence Coordination Dialogue, which resumed Sept. 4 after an eight-year hiatus.

“This made it all the more disappointing when you changed your position after the election, pursuing instead a ‘strategic partnership’ with Beijing for a ‘New World Order.’”
