The decline and fall of Toronto, the no longer good
It’s a city where crackheads roam the streets, sometimes defecating in public spaces, while the police take a hands-off approach.
I rarely venture to downtown Toronto anymore because it depresses me too much, but I happened to take two trips down last week.
One was Kensington Market where, after a lovely dinner, we ran into two drugged out women screaming obscenities at each other in the middle of an adjoining street.
Not only were we taken aback but so was my former Toronto Sun colleague, who’d spent many years working out of our offices on King St. and lives in Mississauga.
The vibe in the former tourist attraction was creepy and rough looking men were hanging out on the sidewalks.
The vibe was much the same on Queen St. the next day where For Lease signs were displayed in six storefronts in one block, the street dirty and shabby and occupied by the purple-haired, nose-ringed crowd.
I wondered how tourists can possibly not notice.
Enroute down to Queen I foolishly took Bathurst St. where red Rapid Transit lanes have managed to snarl traffic and confound drivers. I especially loved the part where parked cars were also blocking the curb lanes.
This, folks, is Olivia Chow’s Toronto.
After just three years in office, the socialist Jew hater, who spends far too much time dancing like a drunken buffoon as if she’s a teenybopper, has turned our city into a chaotic mess of neverending gridlock, an open air drug den and unchecked violence.
We have endured a compounded property tax hike of 18.6% over three years with nothing to show for it.
In fact the city is dirtier than ever and drivers are forced to manoeuvre roads teeming with potholes.
It’s a city where crackheads roam the streets, sometimes defecating in public spaces, while the police take a hands-off approach, even with the many drug dealers who keep the addicted high on their drugs of choice.
Since when is it okay to allow addicts and their dealers selling illegal drugs to harass innocents without facing any consequences whatsoever.
It’s a city where councillors would sooner spend precious resources on vanity projects like renaming Sankofa Square, more expensive homeless shelters, giving away expensive real estate to Indigenous groups and more useless bike lanes than the basics like cutting the weeds on city boulevards.
It’s a city where the mayor and the police chief are in way over their heads when it comes to finding and arresting those who have vandalized Jewish institutions, harassed Jews in their neighbourhoods and shot brazenly through synagogues and bakeries.
Or perhaps the incompetents on the politically charged and highly toxic Toronto police services board have given the police strict orders to drag their heels or to stand down on finding the perpetrators.
A few weeks ago, following the shooting of innocents at the Salsa on St. Clair, the police tried to gaslight us by saying Toronto is still safe for its residents and tourists.
The terrifying shooting occurred on July 12 and two weeks later, the police have yet to name the suspects, the motive behind the shooting and those hurt.
I suspect they’ve been told to keep this information under wraps, lest reminding the public might impact on Chow’s re-election chances in October.
It’s a cynical take but sources have told me that the Toronto Police Services Board — headed by the highly incompetent but ambitious former bank teller Shelley Carroll — is a cesspool.
While she and Chow repeat the same narrative, we now see that their words are all B.S.
For her part, Chow yet again blamed the illegal guns for the shootings at two Jewish bakeries earlier this week.
It is amazing how socialists stick to the same tired playbook refusing to acknowledge what they’ve done to enable the chaos.
For one, Toronto is a Sanctuary City and Chow has been on record welcoming and giving handouts to those who don’t share our values to the city.
In other words she has enabled and encouraged the rise in anti-Semitism!
Does she think we are as idiotic as her?
At the Gay Pride parade she was caught on camera mouthing “Free Palestine” and a mere 24 hours before the bakery shootings she posed with the Jew-hating members of Palestine House, who have celebrated Hamas.
What the hell she was doing in Mississauga is beyond me, except perhaps trolling for votes.
While Chow and Premier Doug Ford and assorted other useless politicians mouthed the same tired narrative — while accomplishing zilch — it made me absolutely nauseous to see PM Mark Carney enter on the scene 24 hours after the shootings with the same tired comments.
His efforts to gaslight the Jewish community are falling on deaf ears. I wish he’d just stop trying to patronize us.
For one thing, he too has enabled crimes against the Jewish community with his constant attacks on the Jewish state. You can’t separate the two.
But whatever he says, one can’t forget his vow to Toronto’s lefty Jews in early June to create a committee to tackle anti-Semitism.
Again, what a pile of B.S.
He is no more interested in tackling anti-Semitism than he is with talking with US president Donald Trump about tariffs and free trade.
And Chow is no more interested in making Toronto safe than wearing a refined outfit to Caribana this weekend.
I just hope and pray enough Torontonians come to their senses and vote her out this October.
The city can’t survive another four years of her.
Just as long as THOSE people don't talk, touch or make eye contact with the federal elites everything will be ok. After all spending billions on the problems seem to be working great. Just don't ask where the money went. Now go vote with your brain not your ears!
This is how Marxists destroy societies, generations, cultures and nations.
It is a methodical approach laid out in textbooks/essays/ideologies.
People need to stop the finger pointing and see the situation for what it is. It is a communist coup.
They fabricate the crises then propose the the solution that is total and complete control.
