Tamara Lich seeks court’s permission to travel abroad
Crown prosecutors argue the Freedom Convoy organizer's request for international travel would amount to a "blank cheque" while she serves a conditional sentence.
Freedom Convoy organizer Tamara Lich returned to court Wednesday seeking permission to leave Canada for Rebel News assignments, including a visit to the White House. Crown prosecutors, however, say the request goes far beyond what her sentence should permit.
Appearing virtually before an Ottawa judge, Lich asked to be exempted from the travel restrictions attached to her conditional sentence for her role in the 2022 Freedom Convoy.
If approved, she would be able to cover White House press events for Rebel News, join the outlet’s seven-day Caribbean cruise and travel to Arizona to interview comedian Rob Schneider.
