I wonder how many of the 23,000 would still be with us if the opioid crisis had not exploded mid 2010’s. We need to implement a “3 strikes, you’re out” philosophy respecting drug addicts who just don’t seem to want to recover, the result of said recovery being they become a USEFUL productive member of society. Three doses of Naloxone is all you get, period. One caveat would be if you got hooked because you were prescribed an opioid by a Doctor. Sounds harsh, yup, but how much time and $$ from our health care system is squandered on those who don’t want to help themselves. … queue the bleeding hearts, and the addiction excuses…
