Smith vows to crack down on illegal dumping

A number of municipalities have recorded a surge in illegal dumping incidents over the last several years, prompting people to go out and confront the perpetrators using social media.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is cracking down on the growing problem of people illegally dumping waste, with $10,000 fines and potentially up to two years in jail for those caught committing the act.

“We take it quite seriously, and we’re consulting on that now. Anyone who wants to give us feedback should let us know,” Smith told reporters on Wednesda…
