Talk is cheap. Actions are what is needed. For example, we do NOT need another government incentive program - that would cost taxpayers money. We need a stick; to punish, increase taxes...maybe even have a new tax on revenue - not profit - on businesses that choose to use TFWs instead of actual Canadians. This is not the time to spend more money, it is time for common sense - Canada should be for Canadians first. Period. Everyone else comes second....or at least they should!!

You know why, because the lieberals are running subsidized worker programs. Ignoring our citizens. That is socialistic, it's straight communism. And this busted territory is stuck with it.

Yep! Maybe we need a call to boycott businesses that prioritize Foreign workers like Tim Hortons and Walmart.

What a mess the liberals have created in this country. Why would any business hire a canadian when they can get a foreign worker with half their wages paid for by the government. I don't see any end to this mess as our borders are still flung wide open welcoming terrorists & who knows what else because no one is being vetted. Thank the liberals & the liberal voters for this mess.

Well Barb these businesses that hire should look in the mirror and ask themselves what they are doing . Is it greed? Do they not know that it is taxes that pay for this "luxury" of cheap labor? The taxes that You and I pay along with the business. They can not see past their noses. There is no such thing as a free meal. Some where , some how somebody has to pay for it! Oh!, I forgot government can just tax more and more .

I agree with Premier Smith, we must fix the immigration laws the liberals destroyed. Other countries do not allow foreign students to work. This would be a good idea for Canada to adopt this policy. We need to break the temporary foreign worker ruse, and stop allowing “asylum seekers” to come in from the United States, a safe country.

How would we do that. Every political party is supporting immigration. Not one of them will stand and say we will stop immigration. We have more than a life time of immigration let in in the last 8 years. WE went 38m to 42m in just a few years. That is definitely a criminal act.

Allowing huge numbers of unskilled immigrants who will work for minimum wages into the country squeezes out Canadian youth from the job market. What moron did not see this coming. Oh yeah Canadian voters.

It's not just unskilled, they infiltrating the skilled trades, and other places. Like to call your utilities office, you won't be talking to anyone but foreigner who can't speak english. You can't go into a store without it being mostly sand diggers in there.

Why get into a competition to see who can give best incentives? Remove the incentives and let the market decide who they want to hire.

Hiring a 17 year old who knows nothing, will work for a short period of time, then go to school costs money for a business. A small local business will do that, because they know the kid, know thier parents, and want to see the kid do well. A large business with head quarters in Toronto (pick your big city) simply sees it as a cost, with no return.

How to fix it? Not sure as we all have a stake in the "Status Quo"

If I was God, and could dictate how the world works, I would make Big Business pay a much higher tax rate than small business, but then I believe that we need to decentralize the country & the economy. We also need to put much more value on Family & Community which takes us down a very deep "Rabbit Hole"

We don't need any immigration, PERIOD!!! We are swamped with these illegals. They are everywhere, you can't walk without bumping into them. Any business that I deal with that has many of them around, I lower my business there, and deal more with business that don't have. Rentals are overflowing with them, the drive like they were out in an open desert with no roads. I'm diving along a street and all of a sudden they decide to pull u turn right there, They are suicide drivers, with no training. Time to deport.

We need a federal government that puts canadian citizens first , ahead of foreign workers and foreign students who are taking these jobs , I am not a bit sorry for these schools and universities that have their finances around foreign students , tough get to work and train our own youth for these jobs no matter how long it takes! and stop immigration that brings people with no skills period! we need a federal government with the guts to do it and now not next year or after another study is done!!!

It’s absolutely disgusting. We also need to tell businesses to stop hiring non-Canadians like Temporary Workers. We should put it on all our surveys that businesses ask us to do such as Tim Hortons and Walmart.

While working in the Oilsands around 2006, Big Oil started ramping up the TFW influx..especially for the CNRL Horizon project..and right off the bat, the bullshitting started. With thousands of Alberta Building Trades union workers seeking work, CNRL president Steve Laut broke the 2 main rules established in the program..they were to hire Canadians across the country FIRST (union and non-union.).THEN bring in the TFW.. They overlooked the unionized workers..hired non- union..then brought TFW..It got ugly..we protested..wrote MPs..MPPs..but..DUH..nothing..took CNRL to the Supreme Court and they were found guilty of breaking the deal..of course by then .(.years later) Horizon was completed..just as Laut planned..the 2nd rule TFW..as the job progressed, any extra TFW hires were to be the LAST to be called..and when things slowed..the FIRST to leave..that didn't happen..and when brought up with Laut and CNRL cronies, we were told the TFW had a 2 year contract!!..(something unheard of for Canadian workers)..BASTARDS
