The federal Liberal government quietly awarded funding to a disturbing academic project that surveyed ped*philes and asked them to rank their sexual attraction to babies and children.
The taxpayer-funded research project also asked participants to rank their attraction to a range of sexual targets and extreme sex acts, including bestiality and rape fantasies.
According to the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), $20,000 was distributed in 2023 for the project entitled “Assessing Sexual Attractions Over Time” and conducted by University of Ottawa doctoral student Lucas Walters.
The results of this taxpayer-funded research were published earlier this yearin the Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality. The SSHRC website confirms that the grant was awarded in the fiscal year 2023 as part of its “Doctoral Fellowships” grants, with no co-applicant and under the broad area of “Gender Issues.”
True North accessed a copy of the survey, which was still available online at the time of publication. Before conducting the survey, participants were shown a trigger warning for potential discomfort, offering them links to organizations that support pedophiles.
In the study, researchers provided a sliding scale ranging from “NOT sexually attracted” to “extremely sexually attracted” and invited survey participants to rate their sexual attraction to infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, as well as various disturbing and violent sexual behaviours.
Questions included rating sexual attraction to babies (0–11 months), toddlers (1–3 years old), children (4–11), younger adolescents (12–15), older adolescents (16-17), sex with animals (cats, dogs, horses), being urinated on, defecating on someone, pretending to rape someone, forcing someone into sexual activity, and having skin cut.
The survey was actively promoted by a group called B4U-ACT which is a U.S.-based organization that advocates for the “mental health” of “minor-attracted persons” (MAPs)–a term used by progressives instead of “pedophile.” B4U-ACT issued a call for participants in January 2024: “MAPs Wanted for Study on Sexual Attractions over Time.”
On its website, B4U-ACT states: “We also work toward the day when minor-attracted people can find mental health professionals they can trust, so that those in need will be able to find help developing ways of coping with their situation or society’s attitudes about them, and learn to consider the effects of their actions on themselves and others before they react.”
As an incentive to participate in the government-funded survey, researchers offered participants a chance to win Amazon gift cards ranging from $100 to $200.
True North reached out to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, which oversees SSHRC, to request comment and ask whether they were aware of the contents of the federally-funded research.
“Research projects and topics can sometimes be considered controversial, but SSHRC has a duty to respect the principle of academic freedom, as well as the peer review process which independently assesses the academic merit of funding proposals,” said an SSHRC spokesperson in an emailed statement.
“Nowhere in SSHRC’s records, or in Mr. Walter’s own research proposal, is it indicated that the research would involve, as you describe, ‘surveying respondents on their sexual attraction to babies, toddlers, children, and adolescents on a sliding scale’.”
The published paper explicitly discusses so-called “chronophilias,” a term academics used to describe sexual attractions to people of specific ages — including “nepiophilia,” the sexual attraction to infants and toddlers.
From the article: “Chronophilias can range from nepiophilia (sexual attraction to infants/toddlers) to gerontophilia (sexual attraction to elderly adults), but discussions of ped*philia dominate the chronophilia literature… diverse targets of sexual attractions are worth investigating.”
The study framed its research as a contribution to understanding the “sexual fluidity” of paraphilic interests — including those involving the youngest and most vulnerable members of society.

Huh! I wonder what they'll do with the results? Try implementing them Canada-wide?? This stuff is so vile & degrading. I can understand wanting to know how or why these people feel this way but my biggest fear is that with democracy slowly being dismantled in Canada, somehow, some time, this will become the "norm" demanded by the Liberals rather than how disgusting & vile it really is.
Would it not be more helpful to find out why these degenerates are attracted? Strong hypothesis that the porn industry is a major contributor.
Also correct me if I’m wrong but I heard (did not read it myself as I won’t buy his book) that Carny questioned selling of children in his book Values?
