Toronto is facing public criticism after city staff removed a historic Hudson’s Bay Company plaque from a Yonge Street property. Despite the City’s controversial claim that the sign has “no heritage value,” the president of Shopify has offered to buy the artifact to preserve a piece fo Canadian history.

A photo that went viral, shared by Integrity Toronto, a group describing itself as a “coalition of citizens committed to restoring integrity-driven leadership” in the city, shows a group of men drilling out a bronze Hudson’s Bay plaque from a historic building.
