Alberta’s legislature unanimously backed Premier Danielle Smith’s energy memorandum of understanding with Ottawa. A similar motion presented in Parliament failed, fuelling claims that the deal between Ottawa and Alberta is meaningless.
The UCP and Alberta NDP traded blows in duelling year-end press conferences as the fall sitting wrapped up at the legislature.
And Alberta once again led the country in job growth as the province’s unemployment rate fell.
