The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is refusing to disclose anti-Palestinian racism teacher training costing more than $70,000 in taxpayer funds. The board says disclosure would pose a “danger to safety or health.”
Following the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, the board experienced an increase in community tensions, including numerous complaints of antisemitism and Islamophobia. Trustees responded by mandating new training for all staff on controversial anti-Palestinian racism, originally developed by the Arab Canadian Lawyers Association.
Documents reviewed by Juno News show that 8,613 teachers watched a training video in November 2024 that purportedly contained “antisemitic and anti-Israel” messaging while promoting Jihad as a “peaceful struggle.”
