Saskatoon blew nearly $300K on three giant plastic rocks
CTF says city hall’s six-figure art project is “ridiculous and disrespectful” to taxpayers.
The City of Saskatoon spent nearly $300,000 on three giant plastic rocks, prompting the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) to demand city hall stop blowing public money on what it calls so-called “art.”
“I can’t believe I need to say this: Taxpayers shouldn’t be paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for plastic rocks,” said CTF Prairie Director Gage Haubrich. “It’s ridiculous and disrespectful to taxpayers that anyone at city hall thought this was a good idea.”
According to documents obtained by the CTF, the city paid Calgary-based artist duo Sans façon $297,490 to create Modern Erratics—an installation consisting of three oversized plastic rocks.
