Rogers poised to lay off half of 25,000 workforce

Rogers Communications Inc. is poised to lay off roughly half of its 25,000 employees, offering severance packages as the company aims to slash its capital spending by 30 per cent compared with last year.

Rogers cited Canada’s “punitive” regulatory environment and competitive pressures as part of its decision, despite its first quarter earnings report showing revenues up 82 per cent year over year.
